Microsoft has recently made two major upgrades to Bing, their search engine. The first upgrade is Bing Image Creator, which is powered by a version of the DALL∙E model, an advanced artificial intelligence tool. This tool allows users to generate images using their own words. The second upgrade is the addition of AI-powered visual stories and knowledge cards to the standard Bing search.
To use the Bing Image Creator, users must access Bing chat creative mode and type out their desired image using the "draw an image" or "create an image" prompt. This feature is integrated directly into the Microsoft Edge sidebar, making it easily accessible. Microsoft notes that they are the only browser with this feature.
The new AI-powered visual stories and knowledge cards, also known as Knowledge Cards 2.0, provide users with more immersive experiences when searching for certain topics like cities or animals. The cards include images, short videos, graphs, charts, timelines, and collections of images, making it easier to find important information at a glance.
Microsoft has put safeguards in place to ensure that the Bing Image Creator cannot be abused. Harmful or unsafe images are blocked, and the user is given a clear warning. Additionally, all generated images are marked with a Bing icon in the left corner to indicate that they were created using this tool.
Overall, Microsoft's upgrades to Bing provide users with more advanced and engaging search experiences while also prioritizing user safety and privacy.
